View Full Version : Skins Misbehaving in Recent Nightlies?

I use a modified version of Fishbone (which I call FishboneLite -- uses
a lot fewer graphics), which has worked fine until recent nightlies.
Under either of two recent nightlies (4/3/04 and 4/5/04) that I have
tried (with version 20 firmware), this modified skin will not display.
If it's set as my default skin, I get a blank page, with a title of [S
WELCOME_TO_SLIMSERVER] - [S {playermodel}], and nothing else. If I set
something else as my default skin and attempt to access my modified skin
by going to server:9000/FishboneLite/, I get regular Fishbone, not my
modified version. I don't pretend to be proficient at modifying skins,
but it worked until these recent nightlies. Ideas?

The whole template mechanism has been changed in the last week. You will need
to run tt_convert.pl on your skin, in order to make it compatible. This will
change just about everything, except blocks. Those, you have to
edit manually to something acceptable to Template Toolkit.

As for using nightlies, please see Sean's recent post:

"I have to add: The whole point of the nightly builds is to have a
fast/easy testing cycle for pre-release builds. You should only install
nightlies if either:

a) you don't mind getting a little surprise (good or bad) once in a
while

or

b) you're following slim-checkins and this mailing list"

Please subscribe to the checkins mailing list, and you will then be notified of
the changes BEFORE you update from CVS to find things not working.

TT_convert is available from cvs:
