Streaming AAC seems to require a lot of CPU. I noticed
a similar issue on OSX with streaming AAC via http.
The same CD's ripped to mp3 did not exhibit dropouts.
I opened a terminal session and started "top" and
noticed that the processess, lame and mov123, used to
convert were using up 80-90% of my CPU (iMac G3-350).
I ended up re-ripping the CD's to mp3.
