When I enable any screensaver, I do get the screensaver displayed on
my slimp3 after the screensaver timeout, but only if nothing is being
played (Version 5.1.1 of the slimserver).

Does anyone know if this is how the screensaver is supposed to work ?

My preference is to have the screensaver run regardless of whether
a song is playing.

Thanks in advance.

Rick

This is by design. If you are playing a song, and you are looking at the now
playing screen, that is already a screensaver so it does not change modes. If
you are somewhere else in the menus, the screensaver should activate.

Hmm.
I just doublechecked and it appears that the now-playing screensaver
activates no matter what I have the screensaver set to, when something
is playing. Even if I'm not looking at the now playing screen.

My steps:

1. activate the datetime screensaver
2. start a song playing
3. use the slim remote to browse the slimp3 to anything but the now playing
menu, say "browse genres"
3. wait for screensaver timeout
4. the now-playing screensaver activates itself (NOT the datetime screensaver)

Can someone try to verify this for me?

I had it wrong in my head. Looking at the code, you will get the default "now
playing" screensaver if you are playing music, no matter menu position you are
in at the time. sorry for the confusion.

you know, come to think of it, I'm sure my first comment should be right. If
so, its deffo a bug. I'll have to defer to Dean on what the design choice was.
If it needs a fix, its an easy one.
