I've taken to my treadmill again and I'd love to just take the controller down to the basement with me and plug the controller into my stereo.

Yeah, I know I'm being lazy, but I'm also afraid when I'm dragging the receiver, power supply and controller downstairs that I might drop it.

Come on tried, tested and true 7.3!! The XM plug in had better work :-)

Howard I have to agree here. I'm using an SB3 but a duet would be cool once they get the networking better and the headphone jack fully functional. I would upgrade at that time but for now the SB3 is very cool and works great for me.

...I have to admit, once I got through the initial problems, I really like this little box. :-)

Sam here - it took some time to figure out how it works, but once I got all the wrinkles ironed out, the Duet has been flawless.

I too am very excited to get this functionality, but I fear the battery life on the Controller will be pants :s

If it'll run an hour or two, I'll be good for what I want it for. If I'm on the treadmill any longer than that, my heirs will get it :-)

I would think they would come up with a large capacity battery to help offset the useage.

I'd buy a large capacity battery for longer life with audio.

My fingers are crossed for rhapsody usage. Rhapsody should be onboard with this- because if they do, I'll be using more than 3 things with rhapsody - meaning I'll sign up for an additional account! that's 2x the money per month from me. It's in their best interest, they've got nothing to lose...

The battery is actually quite large - it is over twice the size of an IPOD touch and larger than an IPhone - both of which people use to stream music regularly and have much larger screens to take up battery juice.

I have no idea whether what you say about the sizes is true or not. But the same certainly can't be said about the battery capacity.

The iPhone has a larger battery capacity at 1400mAh compared to the SBC at 1250mAh. The Touch is about the same as the SBC.

From the tests I have seen with the Touch, it can survive about 3-4 hours on battery while using wifi constantly. And that is without doing any music playback.

So to expect the SBC to last as long as that when streaming over wifi and playing back the music sounds like wishful thinking to me.

A quick Google also confirms that the iPhone battery is in fact pretty much the same volume as the SBC battery.

I saw the Iphone at 1200 and the touch at 500...I can dig out the sites if that helps, not saying they are necessarily right, but that's what my research found.

This one looks fairly definitive and puts the Touch at 900 and the iPhone at 1400.

Yeah, I found some other sites offering OEM touch batteries at 900 mah too. Still 30%ish less than the Duet remote. I am thinking about grabbing my Arcos and doing a streaming music test just for the heck of it and see what it gets streaming wifi with the display off.

Isn't there supposed to be some sort of a surprise built into the release of 7.2? Maybe it's the enabled headphone socket. Mind you it could be Napster too... or maybe the whole secret thing is just a joke.

Well enabling the headphone output is public viewable in bugzilla and has been pushed out to 7.3, so not really a secret or surprise.

The surprise could be related to something leaked by a certain dutch retailer a couple of weeks ago :)
