View Full Version : Help! Squeezebox can't find any music

Hi
After all the troubles with SC software after version 6.5 and the poor SW quality with 7.0 I finally landed at Version 7.1. After the upgrade, everything worked fine (I even could handle the crumbled GUI!).
After some server restarts, SC and my Squeezebox can't find my music files anymore.

Tons of error messages in the Server logfile:
[08-08-17 09:37:22.3524] Slim::Player::Source::openSong (2261) Error: Can't open [file:///Z:/Jukebox/Cat%20Stevens/The%20Very%20Best%20Of%20Cat%20Stevens/18%20Peace%20Train.mp3] : No such file or directory
[08-08-17 09:37:22.4043] Slim::Player::Source::playmode (395) Error: Couldn't gotoNext song on playlist, stopping

Same error message on the Squeezebox "can't open file".

Navigating on the OS (Windows XP SP3) works fine, also playing files over the network, without any problem with any other player.

My music files reside on a Synology NAS, which has a network folder called "Jukebox", this folder is accessable from any PC in the network.

Any idea, what the problem may be?

Thanks for any help & cheers,
Lakeside

Ok this is just off the top of my head but has your firewall or antivirus updated lately and maybe shut off access for your SB? First thought I may have more. Sorry. Also check and make sure they are still mapped the way they are set up.

I have indeed upgraded my Kaspersky Internet Security. But SC was working for the first tests in the same configuration.
I now checked the firewall activities and could not find any problems pointing to SC. I had to allow MySQL access before, but even MySQL does not show up in the protocolls.
I then switched off the whole Kaspersky SW to test it without any restrictions. Same result. When pressing the play button in the SC browser window, it says "stopped". Error message in the logfile is always the same.
That's really strange, since I can browse the whole music collection (Iassume it only displays the database entries), but as soon as I try to play a song, it shows up the error message.

I would rescan if you have not done it lately or after the upgrade

I've also done a full rescan after the upgrade. I give it another try - hopefully it will work this time. There have been many scan problems in the past, with the 7.x. versions.

Scan unsuccessful. All entries are deleted, I have now an empty database. Scanner log looks like this:

- stop the server
- delete cache files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache
- install 7.2 latest nightly
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/latest/7.2/
- retry scan

Thanks for your hints! I just tried with the same result, only DB optimization runs for 2 sec's.
The scan logfile says it can't remove the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache\templates" - but I have removed the whole cache folder as described above.
I was now testing something else: my music library is on Z:\Jukebox (the NAS drive). If I try to change the library location in the SC setup, it doesn't offer me the Z: drive in the popup window. I had this already with a previous version. When I enter Z:\Jukebox manually, it says "...is not a valid value for audiodir". It seems there is a problem accessing a network drive at all, because Z: is not the only network drive I have. But only the local drives are offered to add as a music library.Access to Z: is possible from all PC's in the network, only SC can't see it. I also checked Kaspersky, all Squeezecenter entries are allowed to do anything. Any idea?

See this post, is this the same issue ?

Hi, funny, I was reading this post this afternoon and now tried to insert \\diskstation\public\jukebox. It is now scanning my library hopefully correctly. The confusing thing is, that it has worked with the network drive letter before and now this seems to cause troubles. I'm also wondering if this was the reason why SC and Squeezebox couldn't find my library anymore?
I'm waiting now until the scan is done and will post the result after that.
Thanks a lot for your help, guys!
Cheers, lakeside

Changing the networkdrive finally solved the problem. This is really strange, also the error messages in the logfile are misleading - could this get changed for future versions? Any comment from Slimdevices?
Thanks for your help!
