very peculiar situation

I have a very peculiar situation. My Squeezebox had one address via DHCP and
I've used both a combination of the web browser and the SlimServer utility
to access it. Today I noticed that a laptop on my network now has that IP
address but both the web interface and SlimServer utility both list that old
IP as being the address of the Squeezebox and can successfully operate it.
What gives? I'm stumped.

That's because the players are actually indexed (and remembered) by their
MAC address. This makes sense because in a DHCP environment IP addresses
could change. The MAC address will be constant.
