I know this seems to be a common problem but I have tried the fix of
setting priority to background services but now the problem of dropouts
while playing MP3s is intolerable. I have a P4 1.9G with 768MB RAM and
100ATA drives running XP Pro SP1. The network uses DLink Wi-Fi
components in a new apartment with about 6 metres between the base and
receiver. Any help appreciated.

Best wishes,

Neil

You probably are seeing interference on your wireless network. Try
adjusting the channel number on your DLink access point and see if that
improves things.

Also, verify that the signal strength as seen by the Squeezebox is
sufficient. You can see this in the Player Settings area.

You may also want to check your network driver on your server and disable IP
Segmentation. There are some previous posts in the archive that outline
this. I had this problem (only with Squeezebox, not SLIMP3) on my XP
server.
