I am getting a lot of errors during my library scan:

And I'm getting a lot of these errors in scanner.log:

[08-07-30 04:30:13.8506] MP3::Info::_parse_v2tag (721) Warning: Use of uninitialized value in substr at /share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MP3/Info.pm line 721, <$fh> line 1.
[08-07-30 04:30:19.1766] MP3::Info::_grab_int_16 (2127) Warning: substr outside of string at /share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MP3/Info.pm line 2127, <$fh> line 1.

P.S.
Running SqueezeCenter 7.1 with Squeezebox Duet on QNAP TS-109 NAS

Well, I'm running SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 - 2249 now, but still get a lot of error lines in scanner log.

[08-08-12 04:25:57.0172] MP3::Info::_parse_v2tag (721) Warning: Use of uninitialized value in substr at /share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MP3/Info.pm line 721, <$fh> line 1.
[08-08-12 04:26:02.0493] MP3::Info::_grab_int_16 (2140) Warning: substr outside of string at /share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MP3/Info.pm line 2140, <$fh> line 1.

These lines are repeated about 20 times...

I'm seeing similar behaviour on my Qnap TS 109II, SC 7.01, and a Windows XP laptop. I wish I had more to add, but here's a nugget of information from a full "clear and rescan" scanner logfile:

0356: [08-08-17 13:10:50.3222] MPEG::Audio::Frame::broken (618) Warning: Use of uninitialized value in right bitshift (>>) at /share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MPEG/Audio/Frame.pm line 618, <$mpeg> chunk 10.
0355:
0354: [08-08-17 11:47:34.5347] MPEG::Audio::Frame::broken (621) Warning: Use of uninitialized value in right bitshift (>>) at /share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MPEG/Audio/Frame.pm line 621, <$mpeg> chunk 3.
0353:

Notice the times? The gap of no errors is pretty much exactly when my client PC was powered down. Now, it doesn't look like the scan is proceeding more quickly (I seem to be coming in for a ~4 hour scan of 18K .mp3 tracks), but there's clearly something going on between the client PC and the NAS.

I'm running Norton 360, and my next task is to try and get it to ignore my network drive to see if that improves anything.

Nigel

edit: disabling the firewall didn't seem to do anything. Further, the gap might well have been a coincidence, as I've got another gap (of only 14 minutes this time) with the computer running. Sigh.

Upgrade to 7.2 nightly, clear the cache, redefine the music source, and rescan

Looks like something was changed in 7.1 in the way music source is analyzed
