I just went to download the latest SC7.1 beta and found that 7.1 was apparently no longer in beta and instead was now the official release :-). It downloaded and installed onto my Windows Server 2008 machine with no problems at all (SC7.1 build 22170).

Thanks to all the developers for a great product!

Beware that many of the plugins that were OK under 7.0.1 are not 'compatible'. I suspect that this is mostly cosmetic i.e. they just need to be updated to account for the new release but it threw me for a while when I had a blank screen on my SB3 after updating....hadn't noticed the switch to 7.1 from 7.0.1. (weather date time no longer compatable!)

Note the download page is showing a mixed message with both 7.1 & 7.0.1 mentioned.

I've been running the latest daily 7.1 betas for a couple of months or more, so I have ironed out any issues with plugins I'm using, such as Alien BBC. The latest 7.1 release - whether final or not - is working perfectly for me.

Looks like 7.1 is out the door. The changelog on the download page is for 7.1. I'm surprised the "Web Monkey" hasn't made the announcement yet.

I'd be a little cautious - recent commit messages have mentioned the tag
as for a release candidate. If that's the case this *may* end up being
7.1, or it may not.

Cool! Guess it's time to upgrade!

What's the received wisdom is it best to uninstall through add/remove programs and then install 7.1? Or might I just install 7.1 over my old installation without removing anything?

Any help would be appreciated I run "Windows Home Server" if it matters!

Just install over the top, unless you're running a spectacularly old version. EDIT, nope, you're using Receivers so you must be on a recent SC version.

Seems strange there's no mention from the Slim Devices gang on the forums? Looks like a half-done job at the moment; http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html still refs the 7.0.1 changes, and the beta and pre-release link isn't updated yet.

Be careful about plugins.

A lot of plugins have specified version checking only to run on 7.0.x which may mean editing plugin files to get them active on 7.1.

Some plugins such as AlienBBC have minor functionality changes and so there is a different version (currently beta) for 7.1.

It looks to me like they are in the process of getting everything together to make the announcement. The download page is already partially updated:
http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html

The top part refers to 7.1, but the changes listed at the bottom are still the 7.01 list - at least it is still labeled as such.

the release notes also make no mention of bug 8001 which was fixed by 7.1

so is it an oversight, or do they not list every bug addressed routinely?

Sorry, was an oversight in the changelog.

interesting.

this leads to questions about the changelog itself.

is it not possible to query bugzilla for a complete list to create a changelog with all bugs addressed by version?

Not all bugs fixed in 7.1 should be listed in the changelog. For example bugs that only happened within 7.1 don't get listed. 8001 was just an oversight.
