I've seen this happen a few times with my Squeezebox, too. I'm on a wired
network running SS on a Dell 4600c with Windows XP and 1 gb of RAM. SB
loses its connection to SS (which is still running) and the only recourse is
to unplug the power from the SB and re-set it up.
