Does anybody know if there are low cost speaker selectors that can be controlled by a web interface? I've seen one or two units that are $4k. I'd like something less expensive, but I haven't had much luck in my searches.

Cheers.

He means Squeezebox Recievers aka SBR aka Duet without the controller :-)

Then you only need some cheap amp or active speakers to your less important zones, but it' still cheaper than 4k$

Thats one of the realy good things with the Squeeze system, Ive seen users on this forum with what was it 14 squeezeboxes ? then you can add a suitable numbers of controllers to that only one, or one for each family member to make everybody happy :-)
So the system is scalable, the additional cost of one more reciever is not that high, and one controller could control every player you have.
