Got squeezebox duet for a week now and i am very happy with the product.
Got a question about searching for artists. If i scroll to for instance Killing Joke i see all albums i got of Killing Joke, but there is also an album of Metalica listed under Killing joke. Now i know that Metallica has a album with covers and one is of killing Joke.
Is it normal behaviour for the squeezecentre to list this song also under Killing Joke. The cover also show up under Metallica's cover album though.

I have a large collection of cd's ( 600 pieces ) wich are ripped to mp3's. Now i am replacing them by Flac's.
I remove a mp3 album and replace it with a flac album. I do a scan for new albums and tag-updates. But on the remote controller i have an artist with two identical albums. One flac version and a mp3 version ( even though i removed the mp3 version, before scanning ) The mp3 version shows, on the remote controller, empty.
I have to do clear and new scan to get rid of the double versions.
The only disadvantage is that this version of scanning take aprox. 6 hours.

I found out that if a place the flac in the mp3 dir and it has the exact the same tag, there is no problem at all.

That is correct - SqueezeCenter will not know that you have removed a music file unless you clear and rescan. I am surprised that you have no problem replacing an mp3 file with a flac, as the filename extension is different.

It will only show up once on the remote, but does it play?

Do the tags have both artists listed? Obviously at least one tag includes Killing Joke. There are various options in SqueezeCenter (I don't it in front of me now) and there might be an option to list composers with the artist, and that could be the cause.

In the tag of the metallica file killing joke is mentioned as composer.
So metallica artist is metallica but because composer is killing joke it also appears at albums of killing joke.

The mp3 are physicly removed but the album is still linked, but empty.
Flac's play fine.
