Hi All,

I've got a couple of slimp3s that work great, but when organizing my music,
it would be nice to use the same interface for playing on the PC. Winamp
and winMediaPlayer work but buffer the audio so they are slow when changing
songs.

I noticed references to a slimp3slave someone is working on for linux. is
there such a product for the Windows and understands the slimp3 api?

Thanks
Farid

Not yet; there are a few issues that make it difficult to port
slimp3slave to Windows. I think someone's working on it, though.

Hi,

I have just got a couple of Squeezebox's this week, and they are great. Very
easy to setup, and they sound excellent.

I have also been thinking that a Windows software client would be a really
useful, you just don't get the same level of control using Windows Media
player with the Slim server. I also plan to install a news ticker, and it
would be great if that worked on the PC too.

Tonight I have started looking at developing a Java client, and have made
some early progress. Already I have a (just) readable display, and working
remote control using the Squeezebox client protocol. I'll be looking at
using JavaLayer (http://www.javazoom.net/javalayer/javalayer.html) for the
MP3 decode. I think this solution will work on Windows, Linux and Macs.

Let me know if your interested, and I'll try and get the code into a usable
state.

Regards,
Richard
