View Full Version : Scan doesn't pick up all new music

If I add new music, it often doesn't appear in the New Music browser but I can find it by manually searching.
Appears to be the same on rescan or full clear & scan.
I've always found this a bit flaky so any ideas please?
Also, where is the New Music list stored as I'd like to edit it if possible?
Have SB3 & 7.0.1 19608

Thanks
Paul

The scanner is pretty flaky.
A couple of days ago I edited the genre tag on 50-60 albums and after two manual and two scheduled "look for new and changed music" scans, the tag change is still not picked up.

I guess a "clear library" is needed and that's fine with me but it's not consistent at all.

There is a discussion on 'New Music Folder' here -> http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49404

The little application by Craig mentioned in this thread is excellent at 'fixing' the file dates of music so that the 'new' stuff actually appears in the 'new music' folder.

New & Changed looks at the datestamp, if the editor you used didn't update the time then the scanner won't know it changed. There's usually an option to have your editor properly update the timestamp.

It would mark it as new in that it would move up the ranking in the New Music list, yes. As far as I know the only way to avoid that would be to leave the datestamps as they are but do a full wipe & rescan. That will pick up the tag changes but keep the New Music ordering based on original datestamp.
