Can you reproduce this? This never happens to me when listening out the
soundcard unless the machine is under extreme load.

Ditto. I have only had flac decoding issues when the CPU is under
severe load. I actually have an unrelated subtle bug, similar to
a memory leak, where after some lengthy and random uptime (many
days/weeks) I get random CPU spikes on the order of several seconds
to a minute period. They seem loosely correlated to/exacerbated by
things like mouse and network activity; manifest themselves by things
like audio dropouts (even wav playback) and jerky mouse movements;
and completely disappear after a reboot. However that is completely
off topic and just me venting some frustration with Windows. Going
to try upgrading my video driver next :-).
