Squeezebox. Got 2, I love 'em, and I want another.

Ok, back to the point...

Hotkeys... Is there a way to assign a key on the remote to run a Plugin? I
have a plugin which reads a text file and displays the current 5-day weather
forecast on a single 2-line screen (the current weather plugins are all to
verbose for me, I just need the high/low by day) and it's a bit of a hastle
to go through all the menus. Seems like a hotkey would be a logical feature
for this kick-ass device. I've looked through bugzilla but didn't see
anything like it, but I could have easily missed it.

Custom Screensaver... A standard add-in that I think might be useful for
many users would be a generic screensaver. This would display and scroll
through the contents of a user defined text file. This text file would be
the source of the screensaver output and could be hardcoded with something
like "Welcome to micbean's Screensaver" or independently updated outside of
SlimServer with anything the operator desires. In my case, I would update
the file hourly with the current weather forecast using a scheduled NT job.

I speak VB, not Perl, so I am not ready to tackle a plugin quite yet. Least
not 'til I get sufficiently frustrated at having to press all those buttons
to get to the weather.

Thoughts? Any support for these or are they just dumb ideas? You can throw
e-rocks at me now if you want to.

These are great ideas and not too hard to implement. Join us on the
developer list to get into the nitty gritty details...
