I have just updated my software to 5.1.1 and the squeeze box has updated
itself. It is now showing version 8 on the player information. Is this
correct?

They are included with the server download. When the version number is raised,
the squeezebox will alert you with a message on the screen to press and hold
BRIGHTNESS button to do the update.

Firmware is included with the server. You don't need to download it seperately.

they are also included with the server download. 2.3 is the current one.
Updating the firmware depends on what OS you are using, and those instructions
were in the booklet I believe. In linux, you'd be looking for the slimp3 folder
containing MAIN.HEX and updatee_firmware.pl.

Just a note to all - as part of list etiquette, could you please trim all of
the irrelevant section of your reply?

Thanks.

OK, sorry. Just thought it would keep it all in context.
