Thanks, looks cool...I was actually referring to the virtual CD writer
part, though. Does dMC do that? (in other words, eliminate the need for
a physical CD-RW burn)

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

I use dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC), works very well and can use LAME
as the encoder. 100% free too ("which is nice").

Get it here:

HTH,

Matt.

Can you recommend a package that runs on Windows for this purpose?

Thanks

Matt

or use software to create a virtual CD writer that really just stores
the data on the HDD, but presents itself to the OS as a hardware CD
drive.

Alchohol 120% ( www.alchohol-soft.com) will mount all kinds of CD and DVD
images as a virtual drive. I don't think it will mount a virtual CD-RW which
you can 'burn' to, but it will mount images made by other software (such as
Nero or Roxio). If you can make a .cue/.bin or a .iso, it will mount those.
