Hi there, '
I'm considering buying a Dell desktop. And since they only sell 'm with
Vista, I'm busy finding out about compatibility issues. I gather that the
SB Classic is not yet compatible with Vista. If so, does anyone know how
soon this will be fixed?

Kind regards,
jahnjahn

You don't need any drivers for SqueezeCenter and it can be installed under Vista without problems.

Sorry, old thread I know.

Most Dell PCs can be purchased with XP if you request it.

I am running the last stable version (7.01 I think) of Squeezecenter on a home server running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. The SC installation and operation was a non-event, and things run with a speed and utter stability that surprised me given Vista's reputation.

The issue with Vista for me was the installation of Vista itself - I had to do it twice all over again, the second time applying lessons learned from the start, to configure the system optimally. While it seems 64 bit drivers are now readily available, Vista 64 is not as good at automatically discovering them. Which might be a good thing, because that means you are in control.

My experience couldn't be better with Squeezecenter and Vista.
