thanks for the download link. I downloaded 5.1, and now it's doing the
same thing as well. I tried starting the service from a cmd.exe prompt,
and got the same error as I posted earlier:

C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server>slim.exe

Name "Ogg::Vorbis::Header::PurePerl::DATA" used only once: possible typo
at perl

app line 1097. --- > (evidently not a very unique error or so I've
read)

'x' outside of string in unpack at /PerlApp/Slim/Music/Info.pm line
2244.

I'm quite puzzled about this.

if anyone has a suggestion or two, I'd be very grateful.

thanks,

doug

And not where the problem is.

This is the culprit. The line number doesn't line up perfectly to the
Linux build, but this is right in the midst of readCoverArtTags, in the
section that picks up ID3 v2.3 picture tags. Run SlimServer with
--d_info and the last "Updating image for..." filename is the file
causing the failure. Remove that file (or strip the image tag) and you
should be OK.

Before you remove the file, can you make the file available online and send me a
link off-list. That or try to email it to me if it will fit. This error is
likely a bad image tag, but it shouldn't be allowed to kill the server.
