Hi. I'm trying (and failing) to install SqueezeCenter 7.0.1 on Fedora 7. I'm completely new to Linux. Here's what I did:
I downloaded the Fedora 7 Live CD (the version with the KDE desktop, not the standard version which uses the Gnome desktop, if that makes any difference). I installed it to my hard drive using its install to hard drive feature. I then rebooted my machine and and went through the first time boot configuration turning off SELinux and the firewall. Once complete I rebooted and logged in as root. So far, so good.
Then I tried to install SqueezeCenter 7.0.1 using RPM. I got a message saying there were several dependencies for SqueezeCenter, so I went through and resolved them one by one. I had to download various other RPMs to do this. The command I eventually ended up with was this:
rpm -Uvh squeezecenter-7.0.1-1.noarch.rpm mysql-server-5.0.45-6.fc7.i386.rpm mysql-5.0.45-6.fc7.i386.rpm perl-dbi-1.53-2.fc7.i386.rpm perl-dbd-mysql-3.0008-1.fc7.i386.rpm mysql-libs-5.0.45-6.fc7.i386.rpm
After the installation was complete I got a message saying I could access SqueezeCenter at http://localhost.localdomain:9000, which I tried to do. But I just got a message saying it couldn't connect. The log file at /var/log/squeezecenter/server.log said the following:
[08-06-05 04:39:29.7883] main::daemonize (728) Warning: Can't fork: Cannot allocate memory at /usr/libexec/squeezecenter-server line 728.
So I rebooted. SqueezeCenter started at boot automatically. I then checked the server.log file again. This time it was different. It said:
[08-06-05 04:54:04.6967] Slim::Utils::IPDetect::_init (109) Warning: Couldn't call connect() - falling back to 127.0.0.1
[08-06-05 04:54:17.6948] Slim::Schema::init (151) Warning: Creating new database - empty database or database from 6.3.x found
[08-06-05 04:54:33.6899] main::checkDataSource (873) Warning: Schema updated or no tracks in the database, initiating scan.
[08-06-05 04:54:33.9411] Slim::Networking::mDNS::startAdvertising (156) Warning: Can't call method "processObj" without a package or object reference at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/Slim/Networking/mDNS.pm line 156.
This time I tried to access http://127.0.0.1:9000 as well as http://localhost.localdomain:9000. Neither worked. And that's as far as I can get.
Can anyone help?
