I have MusicIP and now working perfectly with the letter "M" showing on all albums/tracks in SqueezeCenter (7.01).

Can someone please tell me how to set-up SC so that I can use MusicIp with the Duet controller ?

Thankyou

You need to install a recent beta 7.1 to get Controller support. 7.1 is working fine for me at the moment, but big health warning here - it's beta software so stuff can and does get broken as the beta develops. You need to think how comfortable you may be with that.

Also, not all plugins work with 7.1 (some simply need to be manually updated so that they will run on 7.1 by changing the version number, but others are currently incompatible and will need to be reworked).

If you're still up for it: http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/7.1/

Thankyou for the posts.

I now have SC 7.1 - 20420 installed and running. The Duet controller software has also updated and I can now use MusicIP via the handset. Excellent.

I've now just got to work out how to get some decent mixes as the ones that are currently being thrown-up are ridiculous.

I tried to base a mix on a Kamelot song which is heavy rock but ended up with Roy Orbison and Shania Twain songs in the mix. Weird !

If it helps:

MusicIP Player Settings for Each Mix - Yes
MusicIP Mix Size - Tracks = 50
MusicIP Mix Style - 135
MusicIP Mix Variety - 1
MusicIP Mix Genre - no
MusicIP Reject Size 10

is where I start at...good if you want style to be pretty similar, and the mix to have a bit of variety (i.e. not the same mix from any given song, it will vary a bit).

This is just the basic mix, there is a whole load of fancy stuff you can do with moods, recipes and filters too.

Thankyou for that Siduhe, a great place to start !

I wasn't sure I should have been programming the mixes in SC or MsicIP !

March of Mephisto? Human Stain? Kamelot is my favorite! Great choice.

Throw in a bit of Nightwish, Avantasia and Jorn for good measure and you come up with a great dish ;-)

A couple of questions for the MusicIP experts:

1) After the music collection is validated, and I've rescanned in SqueezeCenter, does MusicIP need to be running still for the mixes to work?

2) Is anyone else running MusicIP and Squeezecenter on Windows Home Server? MusicIP is repeatedly shutting down my server after 3-12 hours of runtime. If I don't run MusicIP, everything is fine.

Thanks...

Yes, you'll need MusicIP running as the application, or set it up as a
service. SC, when asked to create mixes, makes a call to the MusicIP http
service (which must also be enabled in the MusicIP preferences). MusicIP
then returns the list of tracks for the mix.

I run on linux. MusicIP has its own forums which may offer you more
information when running with Vista and specific issues with MusicIP.

Yes. MusicIP will still do the mixes for SC.
