I have one Squeezebox and one Duet. Really enjoy those great devices which realy free my music.
Today I did the update of 7.0.1 and had no problem with the Squeezebox. The Duet found a new version and
downloading worked fine but then Duet got stuck. After a while (more than ten minutes) I pressed the
home button and received the message "There was a problem upgrading this remote, please try again or contact support".
I deinstalled SqueezeCenter and re-installed it new. No success - same result for the Duet. No upload of software possible

The Duet shows still Version 7.0r2097 and suggest to do the update (which fails duing installation process)

H E L P ! Thx in advance
Michael

Hi,

I got exactly the same problem: Controller was not able to be updated.
However, I did catch a solution, which might work for you as well: Try to connect to SqueezeNetwork, and now again try the update process.

For me it did do the trick.

Regards
Kim

Thats a good idea i did that once, the other solution is to use an SD card, search this forum for it.

Can be a little fuzz to localize the jive.bin file

Hi Kim
great idea... Thx a lot. Unfortunately it did not work.
Same result like before. I will try again tomorrow morning.

I had no success and tried:
1) upgrade via controller (standard procedure)
2) upgrade via SqueezeNetwork
3) upgrade via SD-Card (using jive_7.01_r2448.bin)
For all who are not familar with upgrading via SD Card, check this thread:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=298129&postcount=12

My findings:
1, 2, 3 with same result: After downloading the upgrade; controller remains in checking "endless". With going back you get the message that there is an update available ... no sense to continue - tried that many times

Think I have to wait until 7.1 is stable..?
Or any other ideas ??

I'm running 7.0.1 r2448 on SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 19705 ?

Maybe factory reseting the Controller with it's new firmware ?

Then suggests a direct contact with support as you seems to have done everything you can do ?

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I think theres an "version" file of some kind that can be edited I have a vague recollection of such a tread ? I maybe totally wrong to I'm no expert just a user that likes this forum .

Edit:
I'm probably wrong, there was talk of editing the version file for the Player to load different FW in an SB3 or transporter

Hello Mnyb

Thx for your support - I even did a factory reset... This helped in so far that I don't get the message about new software versions any more
On my Windows Vista is SqueezeCenter-Version: 7.0.1 - 19705 installed.
Right now my Duet is working fine with the old version 7.0 2097.
If there is no other suggestion, I will wait for a new release and if
this fails I will request hotline support.
Cheers
Michael

There IS a jive.version file in SC but it should state ( i suppose ?):
"
7.0.1 r2448
root@padbuild #74 Tue May 13 11:45:21 PDT 2008"

if you have SqueezeCenter 7.0.1 - 19705

I found it in /var/lib/squeezecenter/cache in linux

I have no clue to what this actually do ? is it SC checking what the Controller has ? or is for Controller to compare for deciding if to uppdate ?

Edit:

Ahaa... cache also contains the jive_7.0.1_r2448.bin file ! That Controller is supposed to fetch for its uppgrade

Edit more:

There is possible to initiate a manual update settings>advanced>software update
this had worked better for some users ?

I had exactly the same problem - the update got stuck at 0%. I tried the update twice and then decided to email slim support. To make sure I noted the messages correctly I tried to do the update once more. This time it all went OK (though it did get stuck at 30% for a while).

Maybe trying a few times will crack it.

Hi Nigel

Thx for the info ... I'm currently trying it for the 3x time today (Always via Squeezenetwork with same Result: "Update will be checked" and later the notice: " Failure.. Try again..."

7.0.1 doesn't like my controller !

jive_7.0.1_r2502M.bin solved the problems I had with r2448 ....

With jive_7.01_r2448.bin I had no success updating from 7.0 version, even trying different methods:
1) upgrade via controller (standard procedure)
2) upgrade via SqueezeNetwork
3) upgrade via SD-Card (using jive_7.01_r2448.bin)

Today I installed 7.0.2-20457. Controller asked "like always during the last days" for an update, which didn't
get installed after download (same result as before with r2448)
I copied jive_7.0.1_r2502M.bin manually to the SD Card. Renamed it to jive.bin and installed this manually
Now the controler accepted installation and re-started itself.

Hey.. this is now working as supposed to !! For all with same issues: Use the SD-card update possibility to
get the controller finally to the latest jive version

Still wondering why the upgrade via W-LAN did not worked ?!

Thx to all who tried to help me !
