I am running a handful of players in my house. My transporter, SliMP3, and a SB3 are connected to Squeezecenter running on a Thecus N5200. This server has all my FLAC files. I believe the version of SC that Andreas ported for the N5200 is the early stable 7.0 release

I also have second server running the latest stable ( 7.0.1 ). This server feeds a distributed audio system via a SB3 and another system via another SB3.

On the Controller if I look under Choose Player, I see all 5 of my devices. However, because the server versions are not identical, the Controller wants to do an upgrade every time I try to switch between players that are running off of different servers.

Is there any way to "NOT" do the software upgrade when switching between players/servers? I guess another option would be to downgrade my Windows box to run the early 7.0 release.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, pointers, or advice on making it easier (and quicker) to switch between the players/servers when using the Controller.

follow-up with some additional information.

I was unable to find a way to "bail out" on the controller upgrading between the different versions of SqueezeCenter.

I ended up uninstalling 7.0.1 and installing 7.0 on my Windows server. This puts it on the same version that the Thecus module is built against.

Everything is working great now. Switching between players being driven from different servers is very quick. It takes about 2 sec to find the players connected to the other server during the Choose Player process. Once I chose the other player, it connects and is ready to go in under 3 sec.

I'll have to keep my servers versions in sync and not upgrade until builds are available for the N5200. Probably easier for plugin maintenance, etc anyway.

What are your reasons for having the two SB3s attached to the PC server as opposed to the N5200?

I would have thought the N5200 would be able to handle the 5 players plus the controller.

It's more of a library management issue for now. The N5200 will handle all the players. I initially had the windows server running everything and now have the N5200 handling just my FLAC library. I am eventually planning on getting multi browse/library set up, but am not there yet with my tags.

I had the same experience running two different version of SC on the different servers. Now both windows and ready NAS are on the latest stable 7.01.
