I want to get a squeezebox receiver, but I have no need for the controller. I have a nokia n770 that I will use to control it so the controller would be a waste. Is it possible to set up the receiver without the controller? It doesn't make sense to me to spend more than twice as much just to set it up.

Theres an beta application without official support Net-Udap.

But you wont have any official support.
And SqueezeNetwork wont work for you ( Version: 7.0.1 - 19608 )

but that could change.

No, buy one and then sell the Controller.

But the controller is really very nice. You may decide to keep it. I
just got mine working again, I had some WiFi networking problems
unrelated to SqueezeBoxen, and now that I have it back, I am reminded
how much I like it.

BTW, I never used the squeezebox or even transporter remote. For years I
have used a laptop and the HTTP interface. But the Controller is really
nice.
