Maybe a stupid question, but is it possible to configure a Duet to act as a general purpose offboard sound card for a Windows PC?

In other words, instead of SqueezeCenter serving the digital sound data to the Duet, I wonder if there is a sound driver that can be installed in the Windows O/S to serve all regular Windows sounds to the Duet?

Basically no. This functionality is not available.

However, there is a plugin for SqueezeCenter that grabs the audio going through your sound card and pipes it through SqueezeCenter and onto any of the hardware players.

This only works in Windows and only on sound cards that have digital loopback. Some don't.

Have a search for WaveInput plugin

in fact, here it is: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35718
