Ah, how does this work (cue file and one large mp3) as I have these as well.

Some people think LAME's -nogap switch is useless:

Lame 3.90 and later writes the actual length of the mp3 data into the LAME
header of the mp3. A player can utilize this for gapless playback.

I just dodge the whole issue and use what works with Squeezebox today:
1 large mp3 file + cue sheet.
