I'm surprised there aren't more people having this issue. Is the right pain
of your browser totally unresponsive?

What OS are you using? Would really like to get this fixed :)

Also, what web interface are you using?

And, does the player behave correctly from the remote control?

Just loaded latest nightly on OSX 10.3.2 and confirmed this problem.

Just discovered that although the right side of the web interface
doesn't indicate any change - the playlist is actually getting updated
and the newly added songs will indeed play.

The display on the SliMP3 properly indicates the songs that are
currently in the playlist.

Is this the case for other skins? if you load the m3u for that player into a
text editor, does it show the added files? The current playlist would be named
__00_FF_00_FF_00_FF.m3u, but would contain your players MAC address instead of
the 00_FF's

Problems were with the standard skin.

I Just switched to Fishbone and noted the right side was updating with
no problems.

Now I've switched back to standard skin and it's now working fine as
well.

Craig.

If I may jump in to this thread...

Great! That solves my problem (sort of, now I have to learn how to
install skins).

To explain- I have been lurking on the list since November, when I tried
the server,
with fairly good results. When I tried the latest version last week I
ran into this
problem with the 5.1 release and the nightly on both Linux and on
Windows XP.
I don't have a lot of free time, so I haven't done much investigation.
Maybe the
best thing for me to do is try again in another 3 months?

This can't be happening to everyone who downloads 5.1 for the first
time, can
it? Somebody tested for that, right?

There are several skins included with the server, Fishbone being one of them.
You click on server settings, additional server settings, Interface. Look for
the Web Interface item and choose a skin from the pulldown menu. Then click
Change. Then you will presented with a message confirming the change, and
providing a link to refresh the interface to give you the full skin change.

yes. I have yet to see this problem come up at all for me. I do run mainly in
linux, but I have tested with windows and use slimserver on my pc at work.

OK, that helps. I didn't notice "additional server settings" at the
bottom of the page.
So, now I have seen skins. Fun, but it turns out that wasn't my problem.
My problem
was trying to put stuff in the playlist before I had a player connected.
I looked right
at a message saying "no player was found", but didn't realize the
significance
because I assumed it was talking about not having a SliMP3 or Squeezebox.

Maybe it's just me, but going ahead with loading and displaying the
playlist while
keeping the "no player" message up seems more intuitively obvious.
