I've been looking in these forums since I bought my SB3 in 2006 and have found
them most helpful, but I haven't been able to find anyone post with my specific
experience of running a dual boot system.

I admit I'm a dabbler with Linux and have recently installed Ubuntu on its own drive
alongside winxp on hda1.

All my music is on my Windows drive. On Ubuntu this appears as /media/hda1 and
is normally available to file browser and other Linux apps.

However, Squeezenter sees only: cdrom, cdrom0, floppy, floppy0 .
ls -ld /media/hda1/
drwxrwx--- 1 root plugdev 36864 2008-04-25 10:43 /media/hda1/

How do I give squeezecenter the ability to access my music files on my windows drive?

Thanks in advance

See the Wiki linux page and look for the permissions problems section.

Please report back if its not useful - I'm trying to get it right.

This should help:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VolumePermissions

That's odd because the default permissions for most windows volumes is not that restrictive.

In /etc/fstab
i changed umask=007 to umask=0222
and now I can play my music.

Thanks
