View Full Version : MusicIP, Scanner and my hard disk

I've just move all my music on to a new 1Tb disk.
Now all my music is in one place at last, I don't have a "music folder" set anymore and use the MusicIP import to feed SC with data...
In which case - why does my music drive thrash away like crazy during a scan, if the data is coming from the musicIP cache which is on a different disk?
I'm confused...
(would I be better not using MusicIP and doing a drive scan instead? - either method seems to take ages (29k tracks, SC7, XP))

When importing metadata from MIP, SC still does look up the files for additional information, artwork etc.

If you only use MIP to provide metadata, but not for its mixing, then you'd rather do drive scans instead. But I assume that most users out there use it because of the mixer.

Thanks Michael - I do use the mixer.
You have explained it. Cheers.
