Getting an exception (crash) in perl56.dll while loading the shoutcast
plugin ONLY when slimserver is run as a service or via the command line.

If I run it via 'perl slimserver.pl' it loads and runs just fine.

Can I deduce that you have to run slimserver via perl (instead of as a
service) if you want to use the
shoutcast plugin?

Anyone had similiar behavior?

Thanks,

I had run it that way in order to know was bombing right when the shoutcast
plugin started to load.

Requiring Plugins::DateTime plugin
Registering screensaver Datetime Screensaver
Requiring Plugins::SlimTris plugin.
Requiring Plugins::Rescan plugin
Requiring Plugins::Snow plugin
Requiring Plugins::Shooter plugin.
Requiring Plugins::SavePlaylist plugin.
Requiring Plugins::ShoutcastBrowser plugin.

<Then the "sorry for the inconvenience windows popup" to handle exceptions
pops up.>

Digging into that a little and it tells me the culprit is perl56.dll.

Also, if I remove the shoutcast plugin from the plugin dir - the problem
goes "away."

Maybe this version of activeperl has a problem with the shoutcast plugin?
Odd that it runs the other way though...

luckily, there is a way you can run slimserver.pl as a service. Check out:
