ok, if this is a dumb question, my apologies...

but i am using the jive with my sb2, and its amazing.

however, it makes its own sounds. i don't object but the other half does and i am curious as to how to control the sounds the jive makes, turn them up or down or on and off.

am i just missing how to? or do these options not exist yet?

if not, i'll file a bug/enh unless one exists already.

the shame i feel... its immense.

thx!

i think i confused those "sound effects" with the 'other' sound effects where its like frogs and trains and stuff.

d'oh!

I've unchecked all of the boxes but the remote still has a sound effect when it powers on and off. Does anyone know of a way to shut that off? Thanks.

settings->advanced->remote login.
check the box, make note of ip and really simple password

ssh to the controller: ssh <jivehost> -l root
(enter password when asked)

rm /usr/share/jive/applets/DefaultSkin/sounds/shutdown.wav
rm /usr/share/jive/jive/splash.wav

then exit.

Uh, just to be safe, shouldn't that be:

mv /usr/share/jive/applets/DefaultSkin/sounds/shutdown.wav
/usr/share/jive/applets/DefaultSkin/sounds/shutdown.wav.disabled
mv /usr/share/jive/jive/splash.wav /usr/share/jive/jive/splash.wav.disabled

?

Uh, just to be safe, shouldn't that be:

mv /usr/share/jive/applets/DefaultSkin/sounds/shutdown.wav
/usr/share/jive/applets/DefaultSkin/sounds/shutdown.wav.disabled
mv /usr/share/jive/jive/splash.wav /usr/share/jive/jive/splash.wav.disabled

?

interestingly, that's not really necessary (well, interesting to me, I'm weird that way). Jive/SBC uses an overlay filesystem, which means that you can't really do harm to the underlying base code. If you ever screw things up in what seems like an irreparable way, just power it on while holding the + key during the boot process. This will wipe the overlay filesystem and start fresh--in other words, the same as Settings->Advanced->Factory Reset. Obviously, you'll lose all your custom settings at this point, but nothing is bricked. Cool!

Very cool, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info!

I'd still recommend the mv, because a> it's just a good general practise
to get into for this kind of thing, and b> it means you can easily
restore those effects without losing all of your other customization work.
