View Full Version : Encoding issues and FLAC playback

Hi there -
Couple of issues even after searching the archives:

Encoding to correct directory:
Neither LAME nor FLAC (which I'm testing at the moment) seem to want to
output the compressed tracks to the directory I've told them to.

Is this likely to be because the location specified is a network location on
my server pc?

Not a biggie but means I then have to move the tracks over manually.

FLAC.exe

After reading the archives I saw that I had to put flac.exe into
c:\winnt\system32
I've done this, rebooted the server and my slimp3, but the slimp3 still
won't play back .flac files.

I'm wondering if either I'm missing a step out here or it's my setup:
Server has two hard drives, each one partitioned into two.
Master HD partition 1 has the operating system (Windows 2000 Advanced
Server) and Slimserver on it and one file in my documents called music which
has a shortcut to Slave HD partition 1 where the music files are actually
stored.

EAC and the rest of FLAC are stored on another pc on the network so do I
need to copy more than just the flac.exe over to the server?

Cheers
David

do you have lame.exe copied there too? you will need both to play back to
slimp3. go to server settings, additional, debugging and check d_source, then
click CHANGE. At the top will be a message, including a link to the log. Check
the log and see what it says after you try to play a FLAC file. Look for the
command its trying to use. if you see "" instead of flac.exe and lame.exe, then
the server is not finding those executables.
