View Full Version : How best to upgrade Slimserver to squeezecenter (debian apt-get)

Hi all,

Debian Linux (Ubuntu).

I have Slimserver installed, which was done via apt-get (I have deb http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main in my sources.list file).

I see that squeezecenter now shows on apt-cache search.

What is the preferred way to upgrade please. Remove slimserver and install squeezecenter? Or is there an upgrade route?

Ideally I'd like to keep settings etc.

Many thanks.

Wish I hadn't bothered! SC 7.0 is horrendously slow (IE7) compared to SS 6.5. I'll try other browsers, but things aren't looking promising...

IE7 in Ubuntu? Cool. How does it work with Firefox? I'll admit we don't test IE in Ubuntu but I'll take a look.

Try the Classic skin and see if there's much difference. The Classic skin is the old Default skin (or fairly close), although I doubt that it's mentioned anywhere you'd find it.

Squeezecenter with IE7 is a bit slow. Try Firefox, I use it and it works fine.

Sorry, I gave everyone a bum steer.

Slim is installed on a headless Ubuntu server, but IE7 is on Vista x64 SP1.

The fishbone skin is still okay for performance, but the default is very slow.

No, either Ross was pulling your leg or he's just a little slow on the uptake.
