Hi Mike (formerly Web Lord),

The link for detailed changes to the new release seems to be broken.

Q - does the official 7.0 release include FW 40?

Thanks.

Congratulations on the new release!

That's lord of the web to you! ;)

As in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance... some people don't get my sense of humor.

Anyhoo, I had an errant cap in that url:

http://www.slimdevices.com/changelog7.html

It looks like FW36 for the transporter.

Ah, that's better - Thanks L.O.T.W.
I admit, I missed the entendre.

Any news as to when FW 40 ready for official release with 7.0?

Excellent news! Has the Debian stable tree been updated with the gold version?

Yeah, great news and congratulations, it's been fun seeing how Squeezecenter reaches release status.

Any news on when the Debian stable repository will be updated?, I tried to update now but I did not fetch any upgrade.

My guess would be tomorrow. In the meantime:

Congratulations on the new release - SqueezeCenter is a huge improvement over the old SlimServer.

I'm currently running a previous nightly (v17665) on fedora, and have the yum repo set-up with the squeezecenter-release repo enabled. Do you know when the repository will be updated so I can just 'yum update' to the stable release?

Thanks
Nick.

Thanks.

So now everything is ready for the Duet launch I suppose.

Excellent news - well done to all and thanks for all the hard work.

I've sent the Gentoo ebuild for this to the package maintainer so
hopefully it'll be in the official portage tree soon.

It would appear not, transporter.version is overwritten to refer to FW36.

If I downloaded the beta version about 2 weeks ago, do I still need to do an update? Also, on a mac what is the easiest way to do it?

I downloaded and installed the beta 7.0 SqueezeCenter software yesterday. Today is the 'official production release.' Is yesterday's different than today's? Should I install the 'production' version released today? If so, do I need to uninstall yesterday's version, or can I download and install today's version 'on top of' yesterday's version without uninstalling yesterday's? Any word on the 'Rhapsody not working via SqueezeNetwork' when using 7.0, and Firmware v.86? Can I get Rhapsody working via SqueezeNet if I go back to Slimserver 6.x.x and firmware v.81? If so, how do I reload old firmware?
Thanks.

I've just finished updating the YUM release and APT stable repos...

FYI, the yum RPM is located in the wrong place. The 7.0 release is currently in "branch" but it should be in "release".

Mitch Harding

Hmmm. On my system it's not reporting there are any newer versions in
the stable tree. I've got the following line in my sources list:
deb http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main

I currently have version 7.0-17737 from late last week. I thought
there had been some changes made since then.

Any ideas?

It seems that the version on the stable tree is 7.0, which is being
interpreted as being older than 7.0-17737, I think. So I am thinking
I just need to do a force install to the 7.0 version. Just a heads-up
for anyone else who may face this problem.

Had 7.0-17737 been in the stable tree or did you get that from testing and
you just switched to stable once 7.0 was available?

7.0-17737 was from the testing tree.

I was using the unstable tree for a long time, when that was the only
place to grab 7.0 builds. Then once it moved to testing, I moved to
testing as well. And finally this weekend, when they announced it was
going gold soon, I moved over to stable and began to wait. :)

If the release versions are not going to use svn revision numbers, then
the testing/pre-release builds must use ~ as a separator, not -.

I have voted for this bug. Seems it would solve the problem nicely.

I don't think it will fix it retroactively, but certainly for future
releases. I voted for it as well.

Yeah, the only way to fix it retroactively is to rebuild the release
..deb with the released svn revision included with a hyphen. Hopefully
they'll get this right using the ~ for pre-7.0.1 testing builds.
