I haven't seen any traffic on this, but I'm wondering: could I have
incorrectly configured SlimServer so it could not read the playlists?
If it presents me with the "use iTunes" option, shouldn't that be enough
to read the playlists? Can I do anything to trouble shoot this?

Yes, it is empty from both the web interface and the SqueezeBox.

I don't know why the SS wouldn't be able to read the XML file.

The rest of my music library appears correctly.

add --d_itunes, and possibly --d_info to the command-line (slimserver.pl in
linux (and osx?), slim.exe in windows). The debug output will then show you
what's going on as the server parses the iTunes library and creates the
Infocache in memory.

If you've set the player to use iTunes, then it should be able to read
in the iTunes Music Library.xml file and use the playlists therein.

What do you have set for your Saved Playlists folder?
