In addition to being a neat feature, it seems like crossfading between
tracks would also solve the problem some of us have with our receivers
cutting off the beginnings of songs when using the digital outputs
(because the digital signal turns off then on again and some receivers,
like my Denon, don't deal with that gracefully). I'd love to see this,
with the amount of gap or overlap adjustable to, say, zero (which would
also seem to fix the digital problem). Anything like this on the
horizon?

Does anybody know if fading between tracks is possible or is anybody
working on that feature. It would be just great, if this would be
available.

having seen this question answered before...I'd say not likely. the hardware
works with one stream, crossfading woudl require two streams. fading could be
possible, I guess, but I am unaware of any statements on its future. The
missing beginning is an issue that should already be fixed with latest server
and firmware. However, if not, then I'm sure the efforts will continue. Masking
it by fading, isn't really a solution, just a cover-up

Actually there were two things that could cause this. One has been
fixed already, which was that the server would sometimes drop the first
32K of the track when switching tracks.

The second issue is a little more complex - it happens only on some
s/pdif receivers which have a long (1/4 to 1/2 sec) delay before sound
comes out when the signal starts. There's a fix we can do for this but
it's not ready yet.
