Hi

Could anyone help please. I have tried to open slimserver-109 on internet explorer. According to the instruction, it has to be IP address followed by :9001. I did that but the page cannot be opened. Then I was advised by QNAP technician that :9000 will do the work, but something called Twonky Media showed up instead of Slimserver, Please advise what should I do.

Thanks, veronica

Have you searched the posts in the 3rd party h/w forum? People there have had issues with the QNAP and been given instructions to check that the slimserver is actually running on the NAS.

Port 9001 is the correct port to use in a QNAP installation, precisely because the pre-installed Twonky uses 9000 (SS is not pre-installed by QNAP, but by the distributor). This is not the normal port for SS.

As amcluesent said, if 9001 is not working, you need to check that SS is actually running.

It could be that if, for some reason, SS has not been shifted to port 9001, that it won't start due to a conflict with Twonky, which would correspond to something you said on a nother thread.

I would suggest that you use the admin facility of the QNAP to disable Twonky for now, and then reboot the machine to see if SS starts, and to see what port it is using.

We have two threads going on this problem, and it is getting confusing.

Can we stop this thread and continue with the one in 3rd Party Hardware please.

If someone could merge the threads, that would be a bonus.
