I have been messing about with the cover art feature for a while now to see
how it all works. It's kool, though I don't seem to be able to do exactly
what I want to ...

Firstly, the difference between Thumbnails and Cover Images is not clear to
me. Am guessing the Thumbnail image is used when browsing by Cover Art and
the Cover Image is used when you select a specific Album (or this is what
seems to happen). But given that I can auto size the Thumbnails anyway, I
don't really see the point of having 2 images - or am I missing something?

Secondly, I have a problem with some of the larger (hi-res) artwork I have.
For the Thumbnails it all works fine, the image is re-sized to manageable
proportions. When I select a specific album however, Slim displays the full
size image (in the left-hand pane) pushing the track listing way off the
screen. I'd really like to be able to auto-size this image as well (or
preferably set a maximum size), while still retaining the full sized
original (which is nicely displayed when I click on the image and it opens
in IE).

It looks to me like I can't do this right now ... Unless there was a way of
forcing the Thumbnails to be shown when looking at an individual album ...

Any clarification/comments/suggestions appreciated ...

Cheers.

Howard.

the point it size. This would allow someone to have a 200k cover.jpg for
viewing in SongInfo, and a 5k thumb.jpg for status and browse. Smaller images,
less data to crunch = faster load.

This is due to the html that creates the skin. The standard skin shows the
image a native resolution when browsing, Fishbone skin will show it at full
width of the left panel only. If you want to make somthing custom, you can copy
the skin directory (Default = standard skin, Fishbone = Fishbone skin), then
edit browseid3.html. Look for the following lines:

<p><a href="/music/{%coverartpath}/cover.jpg" target="cover"><img
src="/music/{%coverartpath}/cover.jpg"></a></p>

and change the section /cover.jpg"></a> to:

/cover.jpg" width="200"></a>

This will display your image as 200 pixels wide and a height scaled to match.
You can also use width="100%" in the default skin if you want it autosized to
the size of the left frame as it is in the Fishbone Skin.
