View Full Version : Search list archives?

I apologize if this is an FAQ, but I am just wondering if there are any
plans to add some sort of search to the list archives? It's very difficult
to avoid reposting FAQs when you can't search the archives. Not to mention
trying to find useful information which I know must be in the archives.

I've tried using Google with the site: modifier, but that doesn't seem to be
working correctly. For example the search "mp3 site:lists.slimdevices.com"
only gives 55 results, which can't be right!

Thoughts?

Some of you already know about this, but for those who don't...if you want to
use a search engine for this mailing list (or any of the SlimDevices mailing
lists), head on over to the Gmane site (http://gmane.org/). Using the search
page (http://search.gmane.org/) you can search by keyword and author. To
narrow down by group, you can type the full name of the list
(gmane.music.equipment.slimdevices.general) or just a word from the list
(slimdevices will get you all of their lists).

I think this will be a very useful tool and reduce the number of repeat
questions on this list. Does it deserve a link somewhere on the SlimDevices
site?

Jeff

p.s. By the way, I am posting this reply from the Gmane site (just to see how
it works)

There are links to gmane.org for each list on this page on our web site:

http://www.slimdevices.com/dev_resources.html

But they could be more prominent...
