This must be the millionth time here of these questions. Anyway.
I had in folder c:\musiikki three (3) folders to test how slimserver finds the artists, henve the different naming:

Phase 1
*******

Amorphis - Tales From The Thousand Lakes
> 01 Amorphis - Thousand Lakes.flac
...
Fergie-2006-The_Dutchess-EMT
> 01-fergie_feat_william-fergalicious-emt.flac
...
VA - 1996 - The Truth Of Communication
> 01 - Pleiadians - Time Dilation.MP3
...
... so on

I got this correctly. I got artists, albums, all that

Phase 2
*******

I moved them to usb-drive G:\musiikki where lies hundreds of folders of music in different formats.

I got:
210 albums 2077 tracks by 0 artists.

Remember I moved previous three successfully tracked folders from C drive to G drive.

Whats the matter?

Is only thing i can do a rescan/rescan/rescan/rescan/rescan/rescan/rescan
and restarting server/restarting server/restarting server/restarting server/restarting server ???

Should I move from C to G my music folders by handful per time and do rescan every time to track all songs?

Otherwise, a good buy so far.

Some version info if it helps somebody:

SlimServer Version: 6.5.4 - 12568 - Windows Vista - FI - cp1252
Server IP address: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Perl versio: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL versio: 5.0.22-community-nt

Best Regards,
A guy who does not understand yet how this works although an evening has passed playing around with it =)

EDIT: forgot to say. I can see artist in SB3 if i choose to show artist. I cant search for artist but It still shows me the artist on Now playing screen?
And I hav enough tagged files to show at least some of htem

Another quirk. If i remove my usb I have 24 artists found at g-drive althought it not connected.

EDIT#2: Now I have 39 artist. This is going take long... And when start to reconfigure my tags where missing and perpahs some filename editing. it starts all over again?

No. What about some log file? Do you see error messages in Windows event log? Could you please enable d_scan, run a full rescan, and upload the slimserver.log file?

I applied d_scan on debugging page:
I have only this in "http://127.0.0.1:9000/log.txt"

Setup::rescan - initiating scan of type: [wipecache]

No slimserver.log found at my Vista.

I did my search from commandline
C:\>dir slimserver.log /s
found none.

Your music library contains 716 albums with 8458 songs by 0 artists.

yes. ok. i got now good results.

Your music library contains 734 albums with 8256 songs by 282 artists.

don't what went wrong in the first place but i did check all debugging check boxes, replaced folder to another and back so on.
not sure if all i have is tracked ok but this is way better than, ever.
thanks for michael for debugging tips.
also i think that parameter to dis/enable library status might have affected some way. i tried to toggling it.

Slimserver does not remember my artists. I got artists for one day. I'll try to add some new artists and fullscan after it.
If browse my albums it founds the artist. when i click artist to show more results, got zero. although just previous click server showed me the artist, it's even clickable link. Then nothing.
also having problem with some albums showing as various artist when it truly hadd only one artist. So somehow it messes up with tags, apple itunes based tags on aac.
