Hello Everybody, and Happy New Year!

I have just purchased a squeezebox. To my delight, it truly is wonderful!

If I got a network enclosure for my external hard drive, would I be able to use that as NAS and install slimserver to it so I would not have to turn on my computer to use my squeezebox?

Sure, but it depends entirely on the NAS unit you get.

The best one for single drives at the moment appears to be the Qnap TS-109 as it is fairly powerful and has pleny of memory. There are others that are less powerful but can still run SlimServer, all be it a lot slower. They are also probably cheaper too.

Have a look at the 3rd Paty Hardware section there are loads o threads about NAS boxes on there.

Oh, and welcome to the forums :)
