View Full Version : Slimserver partly scans my music

Hello,

When I run a "Clear library and rescan everything", then only a part of my music is added to my library. I checked the forums, dropped/created my DB, digged into the logs... but I just don't know what it is.

My box runs Debian Etch with a standalone MySQL server. My music is stored on a NAS device, which is available through a CIFS mountpoint.

I noticed that many skipped files contain West European characters (, , , etc.). However, my locale is set to en_US.UTF-8 and the version tag at the bottom of the Server Settings web page says:

SlimServer Version: 6.5.4 - 12568 - Debian - EN - iso-8859-1
Server IP address: X.X.X.X
Perl Version: 5.8.8 i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.32-Debian_7etch3-log

Does this make sense?

Please let me know how to proceed.

Many thanks,
Bas

What logs? Did you turn on d_scan? What do you see? It should be mentioned
in the log where the scanner gave up.

What logs?
/var/log/slimserver/slimserver.log

Did you turn on d_scan?
Yes.

in the log where the scanner gave up.

I see a recurring

2007-12-17 21:38:10.5354 ERROR: coverArt: Exception when trying to call readCoverArt() for [file:///path/to/file.mp3] : [Can't call method "can" on an undefined value at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Music/Artwork.pm line 196.
]
This is also the last line of the log. Furthermore there's 1 occurrence of

Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/bootstrap.pm line 231.
Use of uninitialized value in string eq at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/bootstrap.pm line 236.

and a lot of playlist warnings

WARNING:
file:///path/to/file.mp3 found in playlist:
file:///path/to/file.m3u doesn't exist on disk - skipping!

Couldn't find any references to files that were not scanned. Any suggestions?

Tnx,
Bas

While reviewing my Slimserver settings I noticed something really weird: my playlist and music folder were swapped!! I need more sleep... ;-)
