View Full Version : Two Players -- One Stream ?

Hey everyone,

Is there a way I can have two players (two computers or squeezboxes) play the same stream ?

For example, I want to listen to one mp3 track from my collection ... but have the output come from two different computers in two different rooms ? Effectively giving me two sets of speakers playing the same track.

Is that possible ?

I don't see a way to have one "player" listen to another player's playlist.

Make sense? Doable ?

Damon

Sync the players, and make sure you use an SC7 nightly.

For a squeezebox (or Softsqueeze) it's in the web interface for the player.

Hmm...I've just gone to have a look, and it's gone.

I could have sworn it was there. Anyone?

You need to have two players connected to SS (and both on, IIRC) to see this option.

Oh ... is this a new feature ? I just have one of the regular downloaded versions testing on my mac ... want to install it on my NAS soon ... but wanted to test it first.

So if I upgrade to the nightly version this is a feature ? Very cool ...

It's actually an old feature. SC7 has better syncing, though (ie they will track a lot closer to each other).

Okay. Lemme look for it. I just started playing with it and didn't see the "syncing" option. I will have to look harder -- but is nice knowing it is there.

Thanks.

Doh. That would explain it. I'm sure I've seen it before, but that must have
been when I was running SoftSqueeze on my PC.

Where I do look for this option, however ? I had both players on and I didn't see anything obvious ... I am sure I am just overlooking it.

Thanks,

In the settings for the player you want to synch to another one.

I found it. Thanks. Also I realized you have to use SoftSqueeze (or an actual Squeezbox/Transporter) to utilize this.

Thanks.
