Perhaps file extensions/suffixes shouldn't be trimmed
from directory names where suffixes don't apply?

Ah, that's probably due to the fact that we try to
hide file suffixes whenever possible, and that it
thinks that the .u. is a suffix.

just for fun, I tried this out. I created a folder called t.A.T.u in my music
folder. Browsing Music Folder, I see t.A.T.u as one of the top level folders.
This is with the Fishbone skin, latest cvs. I also tried tagging a file with
that as the artist, and it shows up just fine as well.

You know, I just looked more closely at it and it seems to work for me,
the suffix is not chopped off when I create a folder called T.A.T.U.

Are you using the latest pre-release version?
