Hi

as in another thread I want to setup some connection to my SB in another room. I'm looking at getting a small set of bookshelf speakers and an amp, i'm not going to be connecting the amp to anything else so it only needs one input, if that makes a difference. i'm in the uk and want to keep it below 150 for the setup.

what would people reccomend? They don't need to be powerfull at all, only a kitchen dining room setup, want more clear sound quality than power.

any views appreciated.

Well I can recommend the Sonic Impact Super T amp. Currently seems to be $160. ( http://www.si5.com/products.php?pID=4004 )

I use this in my bedroom coupled to Mission 771 speakers.
Clarity is really very good. Fantastic soundstage. Plenty of power for my room ( 12x14foot ) although I never use it very loud.
Amp runs cold so I leave it on all the time - as it's my alarm clock now.

Cheers
Alan

Tons of us do. Search the forum for "powered speakers" or "active speakers" and you'll find lots of models and advice. If you go the active speaker route the first thing to do is figure out your budget, because the solutions available range from $30 to over $2000.

Two models that get a lot of good reviews here are the Aego M (a subwoofer + 2 tiny satellites for about $200) and AudioEngine A5s (a 2 channel system for around $300).

A bit more than 150 but my second SB3 goes into a Quad 405 to some new Mission speakers.

Cheers, the audio engines look great. not sure if I can stretch to them though as they seems to be about 200 where available in the uk. the aego's look good too, was thinking more about bookshelf style rather then 3 units, but to be honest, no reason why the aego wouldn't be ideal if they are as good as they seem.

would anyone recommend using something like this? http://www.oono.co.uk/products_transmitavii.php and does the headphone out work at the same time as the phono outs on the SB3?

and cheers but think they quad 405 and missions is a bit more than I was looking to spend.
