Open Winamp or Windows Media Player, open a URL and endter:
http://slimserverIP:9000/stream.mp3
<<

This is wonderful!

The only thing missing, IMHO, is somehow displaying on the client PC (in
WinAMP or WMP) what is playing. From what I can see the client PC just says
"Playing SlimServer".

But this is just a minor request... clients always want more!

The basic functionality is just plain great!

I just thought that this was how it was too when streaming to a media
player, but the other day I installed iTunes 4.0 for XP to just try it out,
and to my surprise the current track info is shown in the iTunes display. It
shows both artist and track title, but no cover art. I now want to know why
Winamp and Windows Media Player don't pick up this info if it is being
provided by the SlimServer.

Winamp, at least, should be showing the information as it plays. The display
should be showing the title of the current song (in the format chosen by the
player settings in teh webUI), followed by "(Welcome To SlimServer)". I don't
use Windows Media, but I dont see why it wouldn't get the metadata. But for
winamp, I'm sure of it. I'm using it right now, with Jan 16 nightly build.

Stream metadata doesn't include cover art, so you wont see that.
