Has anyone looked into porting SoftSqueeze over to the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) box or a Chumby?

Doable?

As far as I know, no one here would be chawed off (is that the correct way to use "chawing" in the past tense?). The markets targeted by the OLPC aren't likely to be buying Squeezeboxes any time soon, and I don't see how Chumby is going to win the "wife acceptance factor" over a Squeezebox ;-)

I'm guessing here, but OLPC seems pretty likely to be able to support SoftSqueeze. Chumby may not have the required Java or CODEC support -- not really sure on that one.

Thanks for your thoughts Jim !

I was just thinking in terms of low cost/low power consumption alternate devices for controlling a SlimServer.

Also nice to hear Slim folk have a high tolerance for irritation(g)

The Chumby can definitely play the /stream.mp3 URL and runs Flash "apps", so in theory the SlimFX skin might work when combined with running "btplay" (the app on the Chumby that plays MP3 streams) in the background.

I'd love to see an all-in-one Flash solution!
