Well in all fairness the internet radio streaming is also an advertised
feature and probably more people use that than the relatively small number
of us who have multiple units and want to use synchronization. But I do
agree that over a month from when I bought it, still not having the synch
working is getting rather frustrating.

Subject: [slim] Sync still broken as of 1/18 nightly

Hello,

I am experiencing the same exact behavior with the 1/17 nightly.
Using OSX
320 CBR MP3

I find it very frustrating that sync is an advertised function of the
squeezebox -- and has not worked since I bought it. Other issues such as
internet radio streaming (that are not part of the advertisement) are
getting higher priority and end up getting fixed. Can basic problems be
resolved before other enhancements are put into place?

Well, synch is still busted. I updated to the 1/18 nightly and updated the
firmware on my squeezebox as requested when I restarted the server. I then
synchronized my slimp3 unit downstairs with the squeezebox upstairs which
was already playing a playlist.

All was well for about 6-7 tracks, then the squeezebox stopped playing
audio. The countdown timer on the display showed the track playing (time
was elapsing) but no audio for about 2-3 minutes, then the squeezebox
started playing audio again but it was out of synch with the slimp3.

This is the same symptom I have been getting with synchronization since
December.

the latest nightly isn't always the latest and greatest. These are pre-release
builds and do contain test code that may not always work. For eg, transcoding
became broken after Jan 13, and was only just backed off Jan 19 to work again
until the issue can be resolved. Sync may have worked at one point, since Dean
did point out having had some success. Try Jan 12, or a day either side, and
see if you have better results. Latest build for me, drops off after just one
song. The earlier builds fare better.
