Hi,

I'm sticking my toe in the water when it comes to FLAC, the idea being if
everything goes well then my entire CD collection get's re-ripped in FLAC
(currently ripped at 320Kbs MP3).

Anyhoo, ripped a couple of CD's in FLAC. All looks well when played streamed
from slimserver to media player. But when streaming to my bedroom slimp3 I
get:

piping "/usr/local/bin/flac" -dcs "/u01/mp3/flac/Jamie
Cullum/Twentysomething/04_Twentysomething.flac"
piping "/usr/local/bin/lame" --silent -q 9 -b 320 - -

Then the slimserver appears to die (certainly the web UI is dead, and both
my Slimp3 and Squeezebox go dead), it looks like a process is zombied since:

[steve@mp3server tmp]$ ps -ef | grep slim
502 2597 1 24 17:12 ? 00:15:09 /usr/bin/perl -w

steve 3591 3550 0 18:15 pts/0 00:00:00 grep slim
[steve@mp3server tmp]$

I've just installed the latest RPM today (thinking it would resolve the
problem) slimserver-2004_01_17-1.noarch.rpm

Over to you experts.

TIA

there is a current issue with transcoding that is causing a problem with piping
the commands. If you try the build from Jan 12 or so, you should see better
results.
